Another release that took longer than planned, but does contain substantial changes to both gameplay and narrative. To start with the last, all texts have been rewritten to second person perspective. First person has its charm, but in the end I believe this fits the game better. Loads of new texts were added too, and others were changed because of the game's restructure. Restructure meaning that chapter 2 and 4 no longer have 3 different lands, but instead a more generic land that has the enemies and events of the 3 original lands combined, with a randomly selected (optional) boss. This adds variation and surprise within the lands, as well as improves player freedom. Other changed include randomly distributed free ability nodes, full heal on level-up, streamlined shrines mechanic, and... back to gold consuming magic wands.

Gameplay

  • Removed goblin gear; goblins now drop normal weapons with few hits
  • Wands have both attack and defense, removed shield wands
  • Return to wands that cost gold to cast as this makes wands more unique and interesting
  • Elf perk means casting at a discount
  • Tweaked start gear, move some to first event in Lost Dungeon
  • Tweaked characters
  • Added inventory slot accessory item
  • Mapmaker and wife give 2 maps for lands (that reveal destinations at a fork), and 1 map for the Undeep (that reveals the places and bosses inside a hall)
  • Throne room contains final boss when visiting for the third time, and doubles boss' size
  • Made accessory slots unlimited and increased empty slot evasion
  • Replaced Undeep Treasure room for Sanctum (conclusion of the Shrines)
  • Replaced Rush With Sneak and made Barehanded attack based on STR; removed it as a derivative
  • Tweaked outfits
  • Merged the level 2 and 4 lands into 2 single lands that contain all enemies and trap/challenge types. Land boss is randomly picked and foreshadowed by the bard.
  • Tweaked enemies
  • Made first dungeon less static and more random
  • Added wraith/demon challenge to dungeons
  • Level-up now heals and cures poison
  • Changed heal pool to vending machine that does not heal but dispenses (heal) potions
  • Free ability nodes are now distributed randomly

UI

  • Removed specialty explanation from thing pop-ups.
  • Removed defense "specialty" from things as this is quite self-explanatory.
  • Added Shields category to weapons tab

Texts

  • Added thing specialty icon to texts where applicable.
  • Changed perspective from first person past tense to second person present simple
  • Rewritten many of the story events and other texts

Others

  • Make sure all lands show an intro image, even though they are temporary
